Hitting the farm...

So we went out to the farm - my mom's dad, brother and his wife barrel race professionally. That's Truly in the picture with Grandma and Liam. He's a 20 year old sweetie that loved attention. They also had Socks - a 3 year old ex-race horse that was jealous of all the attention surrounding Truly.

New Spider-Man Slippers

Well, Grandma and Grandpa arrived and they brought food - specifically cookies. Liam got more trains and I got a new smoke detector - yes, that's what I got. You can't put a price on safety. Watching 'Happy Feet' and eating dinner.

The Day After Tomorrow... which was Xmas Day

So we opened all the gifts and Liam loved his bike. The big hit was this giant dinosaur and the giant 48 piece dinosaur puzzle. Liam's got his Thomas the Train set all made up in the dining room. Grandma and Grandpa are coming tomorrow. Yay!!!

Kevin, Paul and of course, Dick Cheney

So NY was fun and exhausting. The running joke of the weekend was Paul's picture of him and the Cheney's (as seen in photo). Paul's company, Simon and Schuster, publishes Lynne Cheney's kiddie books and Paul is some big wig now so he gets invited to their annual Christmas party each year. It's complicated and I fear to say more. You know, the bugs that are probably in my house and the black Suburban that keeps driving by my window. Anyways...

I have more photos that I'll get up soon. It was nice to see everyone and hang out. Got to eat some great Middle Eastern food and visit a Jewish deli. Got to see ground zero, Battery park and Rockefeller square. Got to stay up all night Thursday and feel like shite Friday morning..... :)

Alpha Dog

Sitting in Paul's apartment watching 'Alpha Dog' getting ready to go eat breakfast... good movie. Paul's having people over later. It snowed yesterday which was cool cause I'm in NY and walking around the streets was awesome but it's also very cold so that sucks.

New York and the cold

So I got into NY yesterday and I'm here until Sunday afternoon. It's soooooo freakin cold. I'm taking some pics and enjoying time hanging with my friends. Kevin came in from SF. David left Madrid and he's living uptown. Kevin and I are staying at Paul's place. Hopefully tonight won't be as crazy as last night ;)

The missing link.... for trees that is

Went for a hike today down by the James River and it's like some dried up desert. The water level is soooo low. Anyways, Liam found the largest leaf ever. It's like some mutant leaf from the Land of the Lost. I expected to see Cha-Ka come running out of the woods chased by some crappy T-Rex model.

Thanksgiving pictures are up!!

Ok, here they are. View at your leisure and savor every moment captured... Click here for the pics...

Grandma denied!!

I love this photo. It captures the moment so perfectly. No kiss for grandma. Look at those faces. Grandma is dejected and heartbroken. Liam is kind of like, should I be sad? Dad? What do I feel?? Can you and I just walk away now, it's getting awkward? ahhh... the magic of the holidays.

Thanksgiving Update

We had a great time at Grandma and Grandpa's house for Thanksgiving. We fed ducks, played soccer, went to the museum, ate crazy amounts of food, stood in line at 5am to buy things on Friday, watched football, went to a Winthrop basketball game, got sick, got better, went for a hike in the woods and managed to sleep a little too. I'm going through all the pictures now and getting them up to the web.

On a side note, Liam and I went down to the James Center Xmas Tree Lighting last night and then went to have Chinese food afterwards. Lots of fun. They have a lit up reindeer forest that makes you feel like you're in some sort of surreal reindeer heaven. Kind of cool and creepy all at the same time. Liam liked the singing squirrels in front of the Xmas tree. They sang Xmas carols and oddly looked like Alvin and the Chipmunks but they were named something like Marvin and the Squirrels. Later...

Happy Thanksgiving

Liam and I are heading down to my parents. Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving except maybe the Dallas Cowboys. I hope their thanksgiving sucks. I'll put up some pics when I get back. Later.

Va Beach Biking Trip

Mimi and I went down to the beach this past weekend to hang out and get some time in on our bikes. So freakin' cold and we actually saw some random 10 year old kid in the water with just his swim trunks on - child abuse. I figured his parents probably had some other credit card that only gave them rewards at weird times of the year - zing!! Anyways, click here for some photos.

I love pork pressed into rib shape...

So Tuesday night is McDonald's night for Liam and I. And what was I greeted with last night??? Yep, it's the McRib Farewell Tour 3. YES!!! I love that sandwich. I'm sure it probably goes straight to my heart like some pork bullet but it's a pork bullet of love.

Van Halen, Jump and technology

What happens when Van Halen goes to perform their last number, the number one selling 'Jump', and the playback is accidentally sped up? I know, I know, I know, the curiousity must be killing you. Let's go to the tape... might want to put on safety goggles for this train wreck...

Mine goes to 11...

The studio went well and we got a lot of recording done. I also simulated what happens to an adult when he drinks lots of beer and eats 10 gummy bears that are really vitamins for kids. I made it through. Although I have super senses now and microwaves make me forget who I am. Wait, there's some milk in the frig about to go bad.... and there it goes. I'll get some pics up shortly.

I stayed up at Kathryn and Chuck's farm and nothing beats waking up at 5:30am with kids running around a house, Willie Nelson blasting through the family room and someone playing a stand-up bass. Really, I'm serious, nothing beats that... except more sleep maybe.

It's studio time...

Going in the studio this weekend with Kathryn. I brought my camera to capture all those typical studio moments of fear, laughter, tears - just like a Journey video. Tired on a bus heading out to the next gig, the life of a rock star, so hard, missing loved ones... "Faithfully... I'm still yours..."

Steve Vai is very funny....

Whoever did this video deserves a beer. This is hilarious and dead on. Even down to the audience noise. SFW and freakin funny. I wish I were this creative... and rich... and had the power to bleed out of my eyes and kill people (damn Heroes plot)

Getting through the day

So if there's one thing I've realized in all my time on this planet - you can never have too many chainsaws on a haunted hayride and you can never have too much Iron Maiden. You know how they say George Bush just flips his computer around and points to solitaire on his screen when he gets bored at meetings and wants to stop? I just flip my laptop around and play an Iron Maiden video. Solitaire, well that just makes you look like a pansy. An Iron Maiden video?? People run away from me thinking that I may just starting throwing things and spitting on them.

I sent this from my blackberry

Wow, we can't cure aids and keep people from buying hummers that get 10 gallons to the mile but I can post to my blog from a mobile phone... I love america.

Hello, goodbye and mary poppins

Hello blog spot, goodbye myspace, facebook and all those other trendy websites that lure 30 somethings into the world of 15 year old adolescent verbiage like ttyl and bff. And forget those cell phone commercials where they make moms and dads look crazy because they can't navigate their way through this made up language built purely on being lazy. Those commercials should be like, "Hey, quit the stupid acronyms and go do your homework or I'll beat the crap out of your bff with my h-a-n-d-s. (enter fading Verizon logo).

Liam saw mary poppins this weekend and actually made it through the whole movie. I was impressed. Particularly because the cell phone of the 3 year old in front of us kept going off during the movie and distracting the surrounding 4 rows. I forgot how skinny matlock used to be and how psychedelic the penquins were. Jane and Michael are just plain annoying. Ah, the young Julie Andrews. Mrs. Banks is kind of attractive in a creepy way until you realize she was in 'The Ref' and played Kevin Spacey's mom. Ewwwwwww... that's just disturbing.
